Homeopathy and family life

Many families explore homeopathy together. What consultations look like for children and parents, and what to keep in mind.

Many of the people who contact me are parents, and families often come to homeopathy together. A parent who has found consultations helpful for themselves will sometimes ask whether their children might benefit too.

Consultations with children

When I see a child, a parent or carer is always present. Younger children may play or draw while we talk, and I learn a great deal simply by watching how they are. Older children are encouraged to tell me in their own words how they feel.

I am interested in their temperament, their fears and favourite things, how they sleep and eat, and how they respond when they are unwell or out of sorts. Each child is seen as an individual.

Remedies are gentle to take

Remedies usually come as small pills or drops and are easy for children to take. We will talk through how and when to give them, and what to look out for.

Always seek medical advice when needed

Children can become unwell quickly. If your child has a high temperature, difficulty breathing, a rash that does not fade, is unusually drowsy, or you are worried for any reason, please contact your GP, NHS 111 or emergency services straight away. Homeopathy is never a substitute for urgent medical care or for your child's usual healthcare.

If you would like to talk about consultations for a family member, please get in touch.
