Understanding Homeopathy

How a remedy is chosen for you

Why I ask about your sleep, your dreams and the weather you love. A look at how individual details shape a prescription.

People are sometimes surprised by the questions I ask. Do you feel the cold? What time of day do you feel at your best? What happens when you are upset: do you want company, or would you rather be left alone? These details can seem unrelated to why you came, yet in homeopathy they matter a great deal.

Looking for what is characteristic

Every remedy has its own picture, built up over many years of careful observation. My task is to listen for what is most characteristic about you, the things that are particular to the way you experience life, and find the remedy whose picture matches most closely.

General symptoms, such as how you sleep, your appetite, your energy and your response to temperature, often tell me as much as the specific complaint you came with. How you feel emotionally is just as important.

Potency and dose

Once a remedy is chosen, I consider the strength, known as the potency, and how often it should be taken. This is tailored to you, and we will discuss it clearly so you know exactly what to do.

Reviewing together

Choosing a remedy is the beginning of a process, not the end. At follow-up appointments we talk through what has changed, what has not, and whether to continue, adjust or try something different. Your feedback guides every decision.

Throughout, please continue with any care from your GP or other health professionals. Homeopathy is offered alongside conventional medicine, never instead of it.
