Gathering in: wellbeing as autumn arrives

Oak leaves turning gold in autumn light

As the oaks drop their acorns and the evenings draw in, a few gentle ways to look after yourself through the change of season.

Autumn has always been my favourite season. The oaks around Sandymoor scatter their acorns, the light turns golden, and there is a natural invitation to slow down and gather in.

Following the rhythm of the season

Nature does not try to bloom all year round. As the days shorten, many of us notice we want more rest, warmer food and quieter evenings. Rather than pushing against that, it can help to make a little room for it.

Small things that help

Get outside in daylight when you can, even for a short walk at lunchtime. Keep regular times for going to bed and getting up. Choose warming, nourishing meals. Make time for the people and activities that restore you, and give yourself permission to say no to some of the rest.

Noticing how you feel

Some people find their mood dips as the days grow darker. If you notice low mood that lasts, or it begins to affect your daily life, please talk to your GP. You do not have to manage it alone.

If you would like to talk about how an individualised homeopathic consultation might support your wellbeing through the seasons, I would be glad to hear from you.
