Understanding Homeopathy
What actually happens in a first consultation
2 September 2026 · 5 min read

An unhurried conversation, a great many questions, and plenty of space to think. A walk through what to expect the first time we speak.
If you have never seen a homeopath before, it is natural to wonder what the first appointment will be like. Many people tell me they arrived half expecting a quick list of symptoms and a prescription. What they find instead is a conversation, and usually a longer one than they are used to.
Before we meet
Most people begin with a free twenty minute Discovery Call. It gives you the chance to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you here, and decide whether this way of working feels right for you. There is no obligation at all.
If you decide to go ahead, I will send you a few practical details beforehand. You do not need to prepare anything elaborate, although some people find it helpful to jot down a few notes about what they would like to talk about.
The conversation itself
An initial consultation lasts between sixty and ninety minutes. We will talk about the things that concern you most, but I will also ask about you as a whole person: your sleep, your energy through the day, how you respond to heat and cold, the foods you are drawn to, what worries you and what brings you comfort.
Some of the questions may seem surprising. They are there because classical homeopathy looks at the whole picture of a person rather than a single complaint. You are always free to take your time, to pause, or to leave a question for another day.
After the consultation
Once we have spoken, I take time to study your case carefully before choosing a remedy that is individual to you. I will explain how to take it and what to look out for, and we will arrange a follow-up so we can talk about how things have been.
Homeopathy is offered alongside, never instead of, the care of your GP or other medical professionals. Please keep taking any prescribed medication and continue to seek medical advice for any health concern.
If you have questions before booking, I would be very happy to hear from you.
